Most re-dos of TV series are quite terrible, to be frank. But in my opinion, one exception to that rule of thumb is “Doctor Who.”The original British TV series aired from 1963 to 1989 for 26 seasons, which is truly incredible! Throughout the original version’s tenure, several different men played The Doctor, a time traveler that shows up just about anytime and anywhere throughout history and the future.
But for the current re-boot, which began in 2005 and is currently in its fifth season, The Doctor gets a new body each season, providing plenty of room for actors to fill the time lord’s well-travelled shoes.
The current season’s Doctor is played by Matt Smith, who turned to acting after a back injury prevented him from pursuing his dream of becoming a professional football player (or in American terms, a soccer player).
In between watching new episodes through Internet TV Bundles, I’ve kept busy guessing as to what will happen next in the series, but not in time, of course. There are so many "Doctor Who" fans out there that argue over the merits of the old series in comparison to the new one and I try to keep up with them while avoiding spoilers with High Speed Internet. Right now I’m enjoying watching the new series before I tackle the 26 seasons of the old one.
