7 Fun Outdoor Spring Dates

For all you romantics out there, spring is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning those fun outdoorsy dates again! Whether you are married, single, in a relationship, you can’t beat the fun of a good old-fashioned outdoor date.

And we’ve recruited some experts to help us out. The Landing, BYU-Idaho student housing, knows college students and they know dates. They’ve helped us put together this awesome list of fun dates to start planning for the springtime.

Campfire
Campfires are great for single and group dates. Get some firewood, matches, s’mores fix-ins, and head out into the great wide somewhere to have a super romantic date by the fire. You plan a fun dinner date and cook dinner over the fire. There are so many possibilities with this one!

Stargazing
Stargazing, if you’re in it for the stars, can actually be a lot of fun. Make a competition out of it to see who can spot the most shooting stars. It is also a great excuse to snuggle up for warmth under some blankets. If you really want to impress your date, bring a telescope to see a more in-depth look at the night sky.

Hiking
Take your date on a hike! This is a great opportunity to talk to them and get to know each other better while also improving your physical fitness! Pack a picnic lunch (peanut butter honey sandwiches are great), plenty of water, and have fun. Enjoy the calm environment that nature offers you.

Rent a Puppy
If you don’t have a puppy, and don’t want the responsibility of owning one, then rent one for a day! Many animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to come give their animals some love. Some places even have dedicated “Rent-a-puppy” businesses for just this purpose. Who doesn’t love puppies?

Visit a National Park
Most people are within 1-2 hours of a national park. Take advantage of that! Go on a date to a national park, learn the history, get lunch, hike around the park, and learn more about each other in the process. This is an especially great idea if you like to take photos.

Try Mini Golf
Find a local mini golf course and give that a try! A little friendly competition never hurt anyone, and it will help you get to know your date on a deeper level. Competition tends to bring out people’s true character.

Attend a Sporting Event
Take your date to a local sporting event (if they’re into that). Baseball starts up in the spring, you might even be able to catch the end of the basketball season. Support your local college or your town’s professional sports teams. Wear the team’s colors and go all out. It’s always more fun when you have someone to root for.
